Kiyomizu-dera admission at a glance
One ticket covers the main hall with its wooden stage and the walk across the grounds. Adults pay JPY 500 and elementary and junior high pupils pay JPY 200 in 2026. There is no group discount. You buy the ticket at the ticket booth.

Extras and neighbors
What the main ticket does not cover.
Tainai-meguri
The walk through the dark passage under the Zuigu-do hall costs about JPY 100 in addition to the main admission, and the entrance is before the main ticket booth. You take off your shoes, walk along a large prayer chain and may not take photos. Skip it if darkness or tight spaces bother you. Its hours are shorter than the temple's, so go early in the day.
Jishu Shrine
The shrine with the love stones is closed for repair work, and the reopening date is open. Plan your visit without it.
Jishu Shrine →Kodai-ji
The neighboring temple raised its price on 1 April 2026: JPY 800 for adults and JPY 400 for middle and high school pupils. It opens from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the last entry at 5:00 p.m. A combined ticket with Entoku-in costs JPY 1,200 for adults.
Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka →Bus with a guide
A Keihan bus ticket with a guide from Gojozaka costs JPY 1,500 for adults and JPY 1,000 for children on selected trips. It includes the Kiyomizu-dera admission, and you must reserve it. A plain bus ride costs JPY 500 and JPY 250.
Getting there →At the gate
A few rules that affect your ticket day.
- Walking tours and kimono rentals do not include the temple ticket. A typical 3-hour walking tour lists temple admission as not included.
- Drones, tripods and monopods are not allowed. Commercial shoots, wedding photos, cosplay and model shoots need permission, and a rented kimono does not give it.
- Speak quietly, do not smoke, do not eat or drink while walking, and take your trash with you. Pets are not allowed, except assistance dogs.
- Wheelchair-friendly routes exist for the public areas. A map is available at the Todoroki-mon gate and online. The temple has no wheelchairs to lend.
- Bicycles do not go onto the grounds. The street in front of the main gate is closed to traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The temple has no parking lot. Use public transport or a taxi, and see getting there for the options. If you plan a second temple day, the Fushimi Inari opening hours are covered on the sister guide. For the seasons and crowds, see best time to visit.
